After a 20-day vacation I returned to Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park.
You can not describe the mere fear, and ultimately decided to spend more than a week on vacation. Is my business crashing? Can I miss you every morning to sign in to receive my email? Do customers remember me when I came back? Can I miss a new business opportunity until I went out?
It all started quite simply: in California, there were three different options for conversation and so close to each other that it seemed foolish not to go to California or to give a lecture. My husband accidentally suggested, "Why not both of us, do we want a little vacation while we are there?" It looked pretty clever.
In the past I kept a week's vacation a few times a year and my business survived. But in 20 days from my office? There was a little habit.
But let me tell you a secret: from the first day I never really wanted to find the internet cafe and check the email. I never felt as though I had to make phone calls and make phone calls. It was astonishing to leave everything so easily. That was the sky!
Holidays are mandatory for self-employed persons. When your business's annual budget is running, schedule sufficient revenue to afford the cost of your stay and the cost of not earning money for weeks.
Why? Because we all need a break from our businesses, from high energy, stress, stuck places. You need to watch yourself, your loved ones, and do the other things you enjoy. You need a place to clean your head and get out of your business's daily occupation.
After 20 days I'm refreshed. During your trip to Yosemite, I've made some important strategic decisions about business direction over the next five years without thinking consciously about my business. I let my sub consciousness elaborate on all the questions and decisions I had to do about my business, and then let the answers slowly bubble up on the surface as I walked, sat, talked and made photos of beautiful nature photographs.
Now that I'm back in my office, I feel that energy and thinking are great. In addition, I keep in touch with the slow, relaxed, peaceful feelings that I felt every day feel away and bring them back to my daily business life.
So, when is the next vacation?
