I recently traveled to Scotland with a friend and it was a great trip. It was a great time and I will be doing it soon.
However, there are things that need to know about Scotland. This helps to make travel much more entertaining.
Pubs and Restaurants
If you go to a pub or a restaurant, you think it's strange because waiters do not come to you, you want to order. Usually in Scotland you have to go to the bar to arrange things.
I heard a lot of people who thought this was strange, but it's in Scotland. It's just a cultural thing like any other country. They are not rough.
Haggis – National Plate
If you travel to Scotland, you will see that most pubs and restaurants offer Haggist as a meal. Haggis is very popular in Scotland and has lots of sheep in the sheep. It is a very salty dish that usually comes from neeps (yellow beets) and tatties (mashed potatoes).
If you want to rent cars in Scotland then you have to make sure it's old enough. In general, rented cars rent only cars older than 20 years (ie rent a car for 21). If you rent a car at the age of 21 you have to pay a lot of money on the actual rent. This is because younger executives have to pay higher insurance premiums.
You also have to note that the cheapest price you can hire a car is when you book your ticket directly.
The weather in Scotland is weird. It keeps falling for several days without stopping. This can be quite frustrating, especially if you do not have enough clothes with you. So before going to Scotland, make sure you wear at least waterproof clothes. Some travel boots are also good.
We mostly traveled to Scotland through youth hostel accommodation. Scotland's youth hostels are great and clean. So we suggest you stay at the accommodation.
One thing to keep in mind is that you can make youth accommodation (not all of them) much cheaper if you become a member of SYHA. This is the Scottish Youth Hostel Association, and has been a member. So look at it.
